Olathe Hardwood

Red oak hardwood provides a warm touch of tradition to any home. Oak has been the most popular hardwood species for many years because it is durable, affordable, and has a classic look. Over 50% of all the hardwood flooring available today is an oak species. Learn all about the benefits of red oak hardwood from the experts at Floor Coverings International KC South!

About Red Oak Hardwood

Red oak flooring has a warm, reddish brown color with prominent grain lines that vary from plank to plank. Like white oak flooring, it can be finished with a clear sealant or stained to nearly any shade. Because red oak is so porous, the stain will go on smoothly and easily for a nice, even color. Red oak is available in a variety of shades that range from dark to light depending on where the wood is found. This makes it easy to customize it to the exact shade you’re going for.

Durability

Red oak is a very durable hardwood without being too hard. It has a Janka hardness rating of 1290, meaning it will hold up well to wear and tear but also not feel too hard underfoot. Thankfully red oak can be sanded and refinished several times over the lifespan to get rid of any dents and scratches that occur.
